Welcome back to a great school year! I am the new counselor here at Aikin Elementary and I am so excited to be here. I look forward to getting to know you and your child as I already feel like I am part of the Aikin family. I am very grateful and proud to be working on this campus. I believe every child is unique and has an unending capacity to learn and grow. As tomorrow’s leaders, they will lead us into the future based on the knowledge and resources that were made available to them throughout the formative years. There is an old proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child” that is so often found to be true. As a part of the “village” that will be shaping your child’s future, I want to ensure you that I will be a positive advocate for you and your child each and every day. I hope that you will stop by my office, send me an e-mail or letter, or call and let me know a little about you and/or your child. I am available to help in any way that I can. We are going to have a great school year and I look forward to working with you this year. Again, welcome back. See you soon! Tressie Gallamore From the American School Counseling Association Webpage: “Today’s young people are living in an exciting time, with an increasingly diverse society, new technologies and expanding opportunities. To help ensure that they are prepared to become the next generation of parents, workers, leaders and citizens, every student needs support, guidance and opportunities during childhood, a time of rapid growth and change. Children face unique and diverse challenges, both personally and developmentally, that have an impact on academic achievement." |
