1 Ebony Drawing pencil
1 Block style eraser – Magic Rub (best) or Pink Pearl
1 set Fine Tip Markers – Crayola (at least 6 colors)
1 Black Ultrafine tipped “Sharpie” Permanent Marker
1 White Posterboard – full size –( No manes on boards – Art teachers will hold boards until time for use)
1 Black Uniball Vision fine tipped-waterproof pen
1 12” ruler
1 8x10 or 9x12 SPIRALBOUND sketchbook – 50-80 pages
1 Blending Stump
Zip lock bag – 2 gallon size – to hold all supplies

These supplies may be bought in kit form ($20) from the Art Dept or at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. Some supplies can be purchased at Walmart.

Objectives: To learn the basic principals of art techniques and how to apply them. Grades are based on participation and personal improvement.

ART I

Basic supplies (approximately $20.00 - $30.00) must be furnished by the student; additional supplies will be provided.
Art I is a foundation course of study in the visual arts. Students will examine both natural and man-made objects, explore art elements and apply art principles in designing, developing and creating original art works. Students will study the art works of contemporary and past artists and that of fellow students to grow in the appreciation of art culture and heritage and to develop visual discrimination and evaluative skills in applying aesthetic judgments. Students are responsible for the cost of materials used in products they take home. Sketchbook assignments are required.

 

Semester 7th & 8th Grade Art


In this hands-on course students will learn the basic principles of art techniques and how to apply them. Students will express their thoughts creatively in a variety of art mediums. There is an emphasis on improving drawing skills. Grades are based on participation and self-improvement.

Grading Policy

Major art projects counted as test grades, which are 50% of overall grade
Art exercises count as daily grades, which are 50% of overall grade
